Branding and communication design for an archive of local history

Rajan Jayakar is well known as a prolific collector of memorabilia on Indian colonial heritage. We worked with Mr. Jayakar and his family to refresh the brand for his extensive collection, as a prelude to future planes of sharing the archive with a wider audience.

Referencing the collection’s many fine examples of colonial era motifs, we designed a new logo with a re-drawn crest and ornamentation. A bespoke monogram of the letters RJC was also designed as a supporting element and takes centre stage on the main crest. A blue and gold colour palette creates the final touch for a sophisticated brand system.
